ARK Architects at Forbes Economic Summit 2026: Singular Architecture, Investment and Value Creation

Antonio Ruiz, CMO & PR at ARK Architects, took part in Forbes Economic Summit 2026 to explore architecture’s role in value creation, the evolution of residential clients and the international projection of an architectural sensibility rooted in the Mediterranean.

In the most demanding segment of the residential market, location remains fundamental. But location alone is no longer enough.

Today, value emerges from a more complex combination of architecture, identity, integration with the surroundings, construction quality, execution and long-term relevance. This was one of the central ideas shared by Antonio Ruiz, CMO & PR at ARK Architects, during his participation in Forbes Economic Summit 2026, where he represented the studio in a discussion on singular architecture and innovative investment.

From a valuable location to an irreplaceable piece of architecture

A singular residence cannot be valued solely according to its square metres or the location of its plot.

Its value also lies in the way it responds to its surroundings, improves the lives of its inhabitants and retains its relevance and desirability over time.

At ARK Architects, this philosophy is reflected in an integrated model in which architecture, construction, interior design and landscaping are developed under a single vision. The aim is to protect the original idea from the first design decisions through to completion, reducing uncertainty while preserving the coherence of the project as a whole.

One idea captures this approach particularly clearly:

Location can make a piece of land valuable; architecture can make it unique.

The value of designing for permanence

Value creation is closely connected to another essential principle: permanence.

Sustainability should therefore not be understood simply as technology or certification added at the end of the design process. It starts much earlier, with fundamentally architectural decisions: orientation, the path of the sun, prevailing winds, topography, vegetation, materials and the relationship between interior and exterior spaces.

When architecture makes intelligent use of natural light, creates shade, encourages ventilation and reduces energy demand through design itself, the building begins to perform before technology is introduced.

Sustainability is also about longevity: creating buildings that age well, adapt over time and retain both their functional and emotional value.

Sustainable architecture is also about creating something worth preserving.

A new client and a new understanding of luxury

Expectations surrounding exceptional residential architecture are changing too.

Rather than focusing exclusively on scale or visible features, clients increasingly value time, privacy, wellbeing, nature and simplicity — together with homes that work effortlessly.

Invisible technology, acoustic comfort, natural light, spaces dedicated to wellbeing and a continuous connection with the landscape are becoming increasingly important. Residences must also respond to evolving family structures, multiple generations and changing ways of living.

The result is a quieter understanding of luxury, in which sophistication is no longer necessarily about having more, but about living better for longer.

From concept to execution

Contemporary architecture is often first experienced through images, yet the success of a project cannot be measured solely by its visual impact.

It must also be buildable, efficient, maintainable and capable of preserving its identity throughout the entire development process.

Across its international projects, ARK develops the conceptual vision while coordinating with local technical teams and specialists, allowing each project to adapt to its specific context without losing its original identity. The capacity to execute therefore becomes an essential component of value creation.

A rendering can attract attention; execution builds trust.

Spain: from international destination to exporter of talent

The Forbes Economic Summit conversation also opened a broader reflection on Spain’s international position.

The country brings together territory, climate, lifestyle, creative talent and a strong tradition of craftsmanship. Yet its opportunity extends beyond attracting international investment or buyers. Spain can also export knowledge, architecture and a distinctive way of understanding life.

Through its international expansion, ARK carries with it a Mediterranean sensibility based on light, nature, materials, wellbeing and shared life, adapting this approach to very different places and climatic conditions.

The ambition is not to export a fixed architectural language, but rather a way of observing a place and designing in response to it.

Ultimately, architecture reaches its greatest value when it improves people’s lives, respects its surroundings and remains relevant over time.
