Manuel Ruiz Moriche, featured in La Voz del Sur

The creative soul of ARK Architects shares his vision on light, landscape, and the architecture of the future.

The Spanish media outlet La Voz del Sur recently published an in-depth feature on Manuel Ruiz Moriche, co-founder and Creative Director of ARK Architects, highlighting his journey from his hometown of La Línea de la Concepción to leading one of the most recognized names in high-end residential architecture worldwide.

In the interview, Manuel reflects on the early days of ARK, founded together with Santiago Ruiz and Diego Suárez — a bold initiative that began over 25 years ago and has since evolved into a global benchmark for bespoke architectural design. From its headquarters in Sotogrande, the studio designs and builds villas that blend contemporary aesthetics, environmental respect, and a deep connection with nature.

At the heart of his work lies a defining element: light.

“Light is the raw material of our architecture,” he explains. “In Andalusia, we are blessed with a unique, almost liquid light that shapes how spaces breathe and how people experience them.”

This profound understanding of light and landscape has become ARK’s signature, present in projects across the United Arab Emirates, New York, Miami, Australia, and the Hamptons.

The feature also emphasizes the balance between innovation and tradition. Despite its global presence, Manuel remains deeply rooted in his Andalusian origins, embracing an architectural philosophy that respects the place, understands its culture and climate, and seeks to integrate harmoniously into the natural environment.

“We design for the light and for the landscape. Wherever we build, our goal is to understand the territory and offer a response that adapts, rather than imposes,” he notes.

With over two decades of experience and a team of nearly 40 professionals, ARK Architects continues to create unique, timeless spaces that embody beauty, functionality, and harmony — staying true to the passion that inspired its beginnings.

The recognition in La Voz del Sur is a testament to this journey and to a philosophy that has made ARK more than an architecture studio: a way of understanding life through light, material, and landscape.
