There are places that are not simply built — they are imagined.
ARK Architects, an international studio renowned for its holistic approach and pioneering vision of bioarchitecture, announces its expansion in the Algarve, strengthening its presence in one of Europe’s most exclusive natural and residential destinations.
In the heart of Vilamoura, one of the most exclusive residential estates in Europe, rises Villa MOON, a masterpiece designed by Manuel Ruiz Moriche, co-founder and creative director of ARK Architects.
A villa where bio-architecture, natural beauty, and contemporary design converge to create a home in perfect balance with its surroundings. Its timeless design, its firm commitment to sustainability, and its unparalleled location in Vilamoura make this project a masterpiece destined to become an international benchmark for contemporary bioarchitecture.
Villa MOON has been developed based on the principles of bio-architecture, a unique concept by ARK Architects. A comprehensive and transformative approach that transcends design to become a true-life experience. A global solution that brings together nature, materials, emotions, and a passion for architecture, giving rise to a language of its own that only ARK knows how to interpret.
The studio proposes a new horizon for the region: the development of unique and sustainable villas, conceived as living organisms in harmony with their environment. Each residence embodies ARK’s philosophy of emotional bioarchitecture — spaces that breathe with nature, guided by light, crafted from noble materials, and designed to enhance human wellbeing.
A new way of understanding contemporary luxury — where architecture does not impose, but listens, adapts, and connects deeply with the landscape.
The Algarve: the perfect setting for a new way of living
Blessed with Mediterranean light, an exceptional climate, and a balance between authenticity and sophistication, the Algarve becomes the ideal canvas for ARK Architects’ design philosophy. Each
villa envisioned by the studio is a manifestation of living bioarchitecture — a balance between technology, craftsmanship, and respect for the environment.
Here, sustainability transcends trends to become an expression of timeless beauty. Materials such as natural stone, untreated wood, and lime-based finishes are chosen not only for their aesthetic purity but for their ability to promote healthy, conscious living. Light, orientation, and openness guide every design decision, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior, between home and horizon.
Within this expansion, Vilamoura stands out as one of the most remarkable locations for this vision: an emblematic destination that hosts Portugal’s most exclusive and private golf course, and now home to residential projects that capture the purest essence of ARK’s philosophy.
Villa MOON: the origin of a vision
Among these projects, Villa MOON emerges as a creation by Manuel Ruiz Moriche, Creative Director and Co-founder of ARK Architects.
Designed in deep connection with the Algarve’s landscape and silence, Villa MOON reflects ARK’s essence — architecture as emotion, as a sensory journey through light, materials, and balance.
Spread across 1,219 mÇ on a 2,565 mÇ plot, the villa opens to the southeast, embracing light and horizon. Inside, five suites, a spa, gym, wine cellar, home office, and a custom-designed ARK kitchen create a home where every detail is an invitation to experience calm and beauty. Natural materials — wood, stone, and light — merge seamlessly with cutting-edge technology to achieve a sense of serenity and absolute comfort.
“We don’t design houses — we design life experiences,” says Ruiz Moriche. “Each project is a quest for harmony between form, emotion, and nature. Villa MOON represents that idea in its purest form.”
Materials are the means of architectural expression, enabling ideas to be transformed into architecture. In keeping with our sustainable philosophy, at MOON we only use natural materials such as stone, chemically unprocessed wood, and unadulterated materials. Even our paints are limebased, promoting healthy living inside our villas.
Materials must be expressed in the purest form possible, which is also a very important pillar for achieving sustainability in our projects.
Contemporary luxury is no longer measured by ostentation, but by authenticity, connection with the environment, and the quality of time spent. Villa MOON symbolizes this change: a quiet, conscious, and sustainable luxury, where architecture acts as a mediator between humans and nature. It is a house that breathes, listens, and adapts to the rhythm of life.
It is a natural evolution, where architecture and design not only focus on the abundance and quality of materials, but also incorporate elements that elevate the emotional experience of the people who live there to another level.
The future of sustainable luxury in Portugal
From the Algarve, ARK Architects begins a new chapter that goes beyond residential design — a statement of intent: to create places where architecture inspires, nature guides, and life regains its essential rhythm.
Just 20 minutes from Faro International Airport and connected to Europe’s main cities, the Algarve stands as the ideal setting for the development of villas that combine privacy, beauty, and wellbeing.
With this vision, ARK Architects and Manuel Ruiz Moriche reaffirm their commitment to architecture that is not only lived in, but deeply felt — architecture that listens to nature, celebrates authenticity, and transforms the everyday into something extraordinary. A celebration of life through the art of bioarchitecture.
